What a surprise....

I heard that at some point the marketing people came to believe that
vertical grilles were synonymous with higher class cars (Rolls, Jaguar,
etc) leading to the return of up-and-down grille slats on the later cars.
Of course one then wonders why they ever went to horizontal to begin with.
