Listers,

I helped Roger Moment make the ones for my car many years ago, and
here's the process...

Roger machined a billet aluminum cylinder the correct diameter and then had
the correct spiral machined into the surface. The depth of the machined
spiral was half the diameter of the wire.

He then would the proper gauge wire into the groves of the cylinder and
secured the ends.

Then he found a thin light brown paper and cut it to size, and then soaked
it in a solution of warm water and "Elmers" glue.

Before wrapping the paper around the cylinder he sprayed it with a coating
of WD-40.

After wrapping the paper onto the cylinder, he then wound a soft braided
nylon cord in between the spirals of the wire to hold the form.

Then hang it up to dry.

Once dry, the tube can be screwed off of the cylinder. The WD-40 aids in
this process.

Done and perfect!
