I agree with Kees. The temps seem very high. You didn=92t mention oil press=
ure while this was happening. My first impulse would be to try turning the =
engine over manually to make sure the problem isn=92t a spun bearing. Then =
check the starter, solenoid, power supply and low current circuit condition=
s respectively. I realize that the usual sequence is to work through the le=
ast expensive items first, but in this case damage can be done to the cheap=
er components if the more serious ones are not cleared first.

Sorry my suggestion should read:
I would suggest, after checking the battery connections you connect a volt =
meter between the power terminal on the starter and a good ground then chec=
k the voltage....

that shows as you turn the key to the "start" position.
Do not hold the "start" position for more than a couple of seconds as start=
er damage can occur.
The voltage should be around 10 VDC.
Report back.

I took my Healey out for a late afternoon run of 40 highway miles. The temp=
erature on the gauge stayed at 212 degrees until driving the last few miles=
so I switched on the fan which kept the temperature below 230 degrees. Dro=
ve the car into the garage and let it idle for a few minutes and turned it =
off. The temperature was over 230 degrees which is normal. I waited 5 minut=
es and tried to turn on the engine. It groaned and suites downed and no el=
ectric functions. Since yesterday when turning on the ignition the fuel pum=
p operates, but, when I engage the starter everything shuts down. I checked=
the 2 fuses and they are fine. Where do I begin to restore starting the en=
gine.
