Yes there is a way to tell the difference. Above the spark plug on the =
cast iron head there is a small dimple in the casting, that is not there =
on the alloy heads.

I will have to re-read the current guidelines, but as far as I'm =
concerned, if an aluminium head is "Indistinguishable" from the =
original, there should be ZERO deductions!=20

I have one on my car and it is "Indistinguishable" from the original.  =
Just like I have a period original 3.54 rear end and other unseen period =
options for my stock, non LeMans BN1 that will out run any "stock 100M". =
The whole point of AH Concours was to encourage our cars to be driven, =
and to NOT be "Trailer Queens" as are a lot of marque Concours.=20

Another member of the Concours Committee has the exact same engine mods =
that I do, so I'm in good company. Neither of our cars can be =
distinguished as not being 100% stock from the factory in 1955.=20

    That bracing was original to late BN2s, and as such is absolutely =
correct.  It's a not well known detail, but it is how it came from the =
factory (Jensen).
