I asked around about that TR6C motorcycle Bill mentioned (heck the only TR6 I
knew of was the car) and here's what came back, even a Bonneville mention (ok
I'm pushing that part but still...)

<<Hello Michael:
TR6C's are Triumph mototcycles, usually mid to late 60's vintage (unit
motor/trans). They are 650 cc. single carburettor models. The C designation
signifies an "off-road" or "competition" model. They came fitted with high
exhaust pipes & mufflers, small headlights, engine skid plates and slightly
lower gearing. Very nice bikes. As to being rare, they are not plentiful
for sure and desirable among Triumph bike collectors for the specialized
nature of the bike, what with high pipes, etc. See a few of them at large
vintage bike meets.
Very early TR6's - from the mid 50's are more scarse, but not really a
racing bike. They were Triumph's more sporty 650 cc. bike (smaller fenders,
separate headlight) as opposed to the Triumph Thunderbird which was the
gentleman's 650 cc. mount. The TR6 eventually evolved into the Bonneville,
by far Triumph's most popular bike.
Depending on the year of your friends TR6, it is a desirable bike, but by
no means a rare treasure, unless it has had some interesting pedigree -
owned by Steve McQueen or Elvis (?).
Lots of those around, I'm sure.>>
