Titanium (Ti) fasteners are great-- strong, lightweight, high temperature,
don't rust, etc. Their downside is cost but more aerospace surplus stuff has
been coming on to the market in the past few years and this has pushed
prices down to more reasonable levels.
Titanium fasteners are found in jet engines and airframes where performance
outweighed cost considerations. Those fasteners are not "hardware store"
quality, either!
Check the strength of the bolt you're going to replace-- if it's a
superalloy, Ti won't be a good substitute but for most applications, its
great.
Titanium does tend to gall so don't use them for a swivel joint, etc.
