Jim : What shape of steel are you cutting ...... plate, tubing,
angles
or channels, and how thick and how long are the cuts involved ?
When it comes to cutting metals of different types, shapes, and
hardnesses ...... circumstances most definitely alter cases ..... or
cutting tools ! Plasma cutters ? They are fabulous on many fabrication
tasks, and I sure wish I had had one back in the 50s & 60s ......
Metal cutting band saws are extremely handy on many projects, and
so are the small hand held hi-speed cutoff wheels ..... they sure do save
on oxygen & acetylene on small jobs ..... and fit in many tight places for
both cutting and grinding ...... great for in-car automotive use !
Maybe you can be more specific about what you are cutting and
also how thick it is ....... there are certainly many, many people on this
list that have covered most all of the bases in metalworking on cars,
airplanes, farm and shop eguipment, and everything and anything else
made out of metal . MUCH know-how and been-there / done that here
on this list !
