Another consideration would be rim width vs. tire size. A wider rim wit a
narrower section tire would "flatten" the profile and provide a bigger
contact patch. As Todd says, however, it is a trade off between traction
and drag.
Bicycle speedos are cheap, light and surprisingly accurate. Get two, put
one on each wheel and you'll know how much wheel spin you have.
