Some more details about the distance record attempt speeds set by Graham
Moss around the Millbrook high speed circular test track (fastest ever lap
by an F1 McLaren of 195 mph). The hands off speed in lane 5 at the top of
the banking is 100 mph. So Graham drove a left handed circle for just over
1 hour at the cost of one rear tyre!

UK National British Class A Record speeds that will be submitted for
ratification are

5 k FS - 143.454 mph
5 mile FS - 143.223 mph
10 kilo FS - 143.070 mph
10 mile FS - 142.775 mph
50 kilo SS - 133.481 mph
50 mile SS - 131 924 mph
100 kilo SS - 130.651 mph
100 mile SS - 128.735 mph
200 kilo SS - 124.194 mph (after pit stop)
1 Hour SS - 124.250 mph (after pit stop)

and afterwards Graham remarked that it was only during the six flying start
laps (each is distance of 2.023 miles) that the engine was (just) getting
into the start of the power curve of this low reving 27 litre aero RR
motor.

Next target to beat is the International 24 hours at an average of 161.180
mph plus one percent.
