I could be glib and say everywhere in England is close to the next place -
when compared with the USA, Canada or Australia - but no, Pendine is not
the location for the 'Prisoner' programme nor close to it, about 90 miles
straight line apart.

That village is at Portmeirion which is near Porthmadog in the north of
wales - but still a south facing beach. Sands are extensive but not as
long as Pendine, but good for a TV show.

Weston Super Mare has been used for sand racing and speed trials (standing
start kilo type events) but not to my knowledge for any LSR (as we know it
over here). I used to go to Weston for the speed trials on the promenade.

You may not have seen but the Metisse (pictured on Landracing, com) had SKF
sponsorship - excellent bearings and rod ends.

I always try to extend the LSR knowledge whilst answering simple geography
questions!

I will be at Maxton on 30 April/ 1 May if flights work OK. Then on to
Nevada.
