I've come to appreciate the shutting down sequence as well.. it requires as
much thought as the run itself (if not more).

The tendency is to get so wrapped up inside the car and forget that your
still going mighty fast and driving is still very much a requirement...

When we do the Rookie orientations at Maxton the shut down proceedure is
always emphisized twice as much as getting up to speed....  Course
orientatation plays a big part in understanding what to do After you've gone
fast........

My big deal with folks is to get them to relax and enjoy the run but to
focus on how and when they are going to execute the shut down procedure...
to think through and physically go through the motions in the car with each
of the different requirements and the actual sequence of events...

Parachute.... throttle.... neutral... and then how fast to turn out...
