All right, my sad story about oil pressure. Damp salt is sticky --
gets on the tires and flings off and sticks to parts under the bike,
including the lead from the oil pressure sensor. Damp salt is also
electrically conductive, so when the lead gets covered -- the oil light
comes on! Close throttle, pull in clutch, coast off to the left, go to
pits -- no problem, just shorted-to-ground wiring. Repeat a couple of
times and learn to ignore the red light.

Later that week, running a record return run, cooking along just dandy
in the middle mile, red oil light comes on. IGNORE IT! -- You're on a
record run (my mind told me), why waste it for a false alarm?
Wouldn't you know, this time the oil filter gasket had let go, all the
oil came out in a few seconds, I torched a crank.

Lesson learned -- I've got both electrical and plumbed oil pressure
sensors/gauges now.
