Could not have said it better myself but don't you feel better you got
there yourself?? Problem with the v-8 pushrod engine at that size as I
see it is they are just not made to go that small in the design of the
block and deck height. It screws up the rod ratio ability get a
reasonably compression ratio among other things. Subtract 2 cylinders
and all is fixed along with dropping some friction losses. This is not
the most sophisticated engine but has plenty of power potential. Is it
the best, no way, is it affordable and available yes. A reasonable
choice yes again as far as I can see. Losing the Ford V-8 for this size
was the smart move..
