Brian,
That's odd! Lucas wiring diagram (Drawing no. W320) "Wiring Diagram for
12-Volt Equipment (Earth Return) as fitted to M.G. "P" and "N" Cars
(1934-6)" shows negative earth.
If anybody would like a copy of this wiring diagram I can scan it in and
e-mail it.
