I was making a bit of forward progess on the PA rear axle till today. I went
to fit the rear axles and hubs and find the hub flanges are not parrallel to
the wheel bearing carrier. Also the left axle shaft is bearing on the front
of the axle tube opening and it requires a lot of rearward pressure on the
axle/hub to get the axle/hub centered to pass over bearing carrier studs.
More pressure than I think is right.
I know the diff unit itself is not PA, might be Morris or Wolsely?? Ratio is
8/43, 5.375, same as PA and it fits the PA axle tube. However the guts are
different than shown in the parts book and manual.
So here is the question:
1-Is a Morris diff different dimension from diff flange to center of axle
shafts? Is this my problem with alignment. If so can I shim the diff
or
2-Is it likely the axle tube/casing is bent? If so, is it easily
straightened?.

Thanks for any advice before I rip the whole axle casing out of the car.
