Clear coating

Last week a friend at a car show introduced me to a miracle cleaner called
"Bar Keeper's Friend". It worked wonders on the 20 years of corrosion that
had turned all my fuel pump and line fittings black. Regular brass cleaner
wouldn't even touch them. After using the cleaner, brass cleaner such as
Brasso made the old parts gleam like new.

So what's the problem? I have used the cleaner on all fittings and tubing,
such as oil pressure line, radiator drain tap and pipe, etc. etc. The area
under the bonnet sparkles. But now that I have brightened up so much, I have
really created an enormous amount of work for myself prior to each show.
Living two miles from the Gulf, polished metal starts tarnishing within four
days.

Question: Is there some proven clear coating I can use on the polished parts
so I need not polish them again? I have heard most clear varnishes, nail
polish (lacquer), etc. will darken the metal and eventually cloud and crack
with age. None of my catalogs list any coating suitable for this
application. Hopefully someone on the net has had success with a particular
product.

Thanks
