My TD dipstick does it some too. If my dipstick bottoms out early, I
just twist the stick while pushing and it will go right in. A
possibility is the dipstick is hitting the windage tray. If the stick
is slightly bent, then rotating the stick causes the bend to point in a
different direction and thus misses the windage tray.
