Bob,
Why?  While they don't exactly provide world class stopping power, the 
TD drum brakes are adequate for the performance potential of the car.  
Now if you have a really tweaked race car or have street-rodded your 
car, you may need some help.  I'm sure someone had done a similar 
"upgrade."  I would suspect that a mix and match of parts from an MGA 
1600 would come up with something useable considering the commonality of 
front suspension parts.  All purely conjecture as I have a TC so in a 
completely different world suspension and brake wise.
