Here is a recent article referencing the new Ford warning about tires and
aging. Yes, there is some
'fear factor' built in, but Ford is at least not a tire manufacturer. Ford
recommends tire
replacement at 6 years.
The article does reference some studies done by Ford on tire aging. I have not
looked these up.
