All,
As I've been stripping my car down to the white, I've noticed alot of asphalt spread around the bulkhead seams. What I cant figure our, especialy inside the cockpit, under the dash, is that the asphalt doesn't actualy seem to be covering the seams. It often looks to be applied next to the seams, but not actualy covering the gap where water could ingress.
So, did the Brits just do a crappy job putting the stuff on? Or is it there for a separate purpose I can't fathom?
What I find interesting is that my car has both asphalt and the more conventional "latex" seam sealer on the car.

Any thoughts?
James J.
