D&D makes adapters for just about any tranny. The question is "what tranny will fit in an MGB?" I've heard that many of the older 3-speeds from many manufacturers fit with minor hammering, but 4-speeds tend to take up more room. A definite 4-speed (overdrive) fit is GM's TH700R4 - with one caveat: You need the V-6 version as used in the S-10 truck (and possibly certain years of Firebird/Camaro) as this has a smaller bell-housing than it's V8 big-brother. They take all the same internals (eg. a rebuild kit) but I think the torque-converter is smaller. I have one for my MGB-GT that I want to make a daily-driver. Of course there is the tranny used in the Land/Range rovers, but it's huge.
