I have some odds and ends laying around in the shop
and decided to see how they differed - weight wise.
I used digital bathroom scales. I don't know how
accurate they are but seem decent in other comparisons.
Make Head Crank Block
Buick 215 14 lbs 35 lbs 71 lbs
Chevy 40 lbs 48 lbs 157 lbs
Ford 40 lbs 36 lbs 136 lbs
Both Chevy and Ford are small blocks
All blocks had main caps and nothing else
The heads are each, not a pair, so double it for total difference.
the heads were also bare - no valves, etc.
Now to put them together.
