In the latest TSO, an advert states there is a group of MG enthusiasts
getting together to machine hard to find parts for the TC (etc.) Being the
fellows live about 30 minutes from me here in Northern New Jersey, I could
not resist passing an hour (or maybe two) on the horn with them.
The 2 fellows are long time (30 years) enthusiasts and seem to want to "do
things the way Kim himself would aprrove". One is a man who owned a machine
shop and has now sold it and retired. The other guy is an architect with a
keen sense of mechanical engineering. They are taking things such as the
notorious stub axle, copying the original and manufacturing them on an as
needed( or inventory based-depending on the frequency with which they are
consumed) basis.
The architect has copies of many original factory design sketches and in his
travels over 30 years has put together an impressive collection.
They put out a call in this advert for a request of items MG enthusiasts
would be interested in. I am meeting one of them this Sunday and I will
report to anyone who so desires. Send me your address and I will keep you
posted.
