I have had the car about three weeks and have covered just under 2000
miles - the verdict ? Its wonderful. The MGF is truly a car worthy
of the marque - I have covered over 1/4 million miles in various MGs so I

I agree totally. If I was PM I would pass a law saying that
convertible owners who drive with the hoods up in sunny weather
should have their cars taken away and given to people who appreciate
them.

With the engine in the middle the back of the car has to be fairly high,
however I think this adds to the cars looks. Both the MX5 and MGF
are great looking cars, also they both have the clean uncluttered
lines (as per Midget/MGB) that means the shape will not look dated
in a few years.

The car is very comfortable and easy to drive. If you were to take
an MX5 down a windy country lane followed by an F at the same speed,
the MX5 would be more fun. The reason for this is that with the MX5
you have to be so much more involved in driving the car where the
MGFs attitude due to its better handling is corner, what corner?
Go a bit faster still and the MGF will be the most fun, not least because
the MX5 is probably upside down in the ditch.
The MGF should not be used as an occasional fun car, rather it is a
practical everyday car (that is still fun to drive). I have used my Midget
a couple of times since I got the F, but when it comes to a long journey I
find myself reaching for the keys to the F.

Agree totally, the MX5 has just about the best gear shift of any car
I have driven. I suspect that due to the long distances and
complicated linkages between the gearstick and gearbox it would be
impossible for the F to have a gearstick as short as the Maxda's.

Will do. Like most MG owners I always wave at other MGs, but for the
first couple of weeks no MG owners waved back at the F. Is this
because they don't regard it as a proper MG, apparently not.
According to a couple of our club members they were so surprsed to
actually see a one on the road that by the time they thought to wave
it was already 1/2 a mile down the road.
