A clogged cat converter caused a cast iron exhaust manifold to crack on a 
hundai. It was the increased heat and presure. But, then again, it was a 
hundai and they were built to self distruct.

William,
        It is true, all MGB manifolds will crack, as long as you drop it off 

of a tall enough building. But seriously, I have never heard of this
problem, know of no reason why it should be true, and belive that any
mechanic who sees a trend of this might be guilty of over-torquing his
manifolds.
