Definitely!

A friend of mine has a seriously hopped up Superbeetle Convertible with a
Crane Ignition. Since she has one of those kits that lets the top of the
engine lid stand way from the body ~3", whenever it rains really heavily
(OK, this is in Tucson, Arizona), the "brain" that's mounted in the
engine compartment (bad place to put it, mine's behind the dash), dies.
She has her 4th one, I think. Warrantie honeored every time!

Wait, didn't you have to remove the "rod" that sticks up from the base plate?
I think the "eye" of the points mounted to it?
I just remember doing something (when I installed my unit) that made me
think "SH**, now I can't change back to points anymore..."
