I posted the following message to Chevron after receiving a blub in the mail
from them. I am posting this to the three lists that I read because I think
there is a potential serious safety problem here that is being glossed over.
I don't have to say that there has been no response to date. My neighbors
pristene '76 Lincoln Continental burned up recently and I suspect that this
new Oxy gas is the culprit. The beaurocrats here in Cal. did zillions in
damage when they mandated a change in Diesel fuel a couple of years ago with
out adequate testing. Here we go again. I would appreciate the nets wisdom
on this new gasoline and if you want to bug Chevron through their web site,
be my guest.
Those that read "Skinned Knucles" can read some thoughts there about it in
this months issue. There is a suggestion that all fuel hoses be changed to a
new "Fuel Injection" type. Just to be on the safe side. I think the oil
companies should give us some advice on just how compatible our old rubber is
with the new gas.
Cheers, Terry

I received in the mail a brochure from Chevron about the new "cleaner buning
gasoline".
I am a member of several MG clubs here in the Bay Area and we are concerned
about a statement in there "The use of cleaner-burning gasoline may result in
the failure of some fuel system parts, particularly older or worn fuel system
parts in a very small percentage of older....vehicles". .... "such failures
can cause fuel leaks"....etc.

Your company obviously has the techical information as to what "fuel system
parts" may fail. We suspect that it is the rubber hoses used in older cars.
We need to h ave this information in order that we may continue to operate
our old cars (using Chevron with Techron, naturally) safely.

Can you forward me any additional information on this.

Many thanks
Terry Sanders
