Well, Milo, here is another idea about floor rust, soundproofing,
rugs. I have been on a trip, just catching up. For about 15 years,
I have kept only 2 things on my 67 B floors...paint and rubber mats.
I did all the cleanup that everyone mentioned, rusteoleum and then
had them sprayed when the car was painted. Only thing on top of that
has been the thick rubber MG mats. There are already drain holes in
the floor, two by your feet and two behind the seats, if memory is
right, keep them free of sand, and when it gets wet in there, like
riding top down in the rain, I just stand the mats up on edge when
back home to allow draining/drying. Yes, I am not suppressing the
noise, but you got to be kidding...the engine and tranny make so much
noise that the little thru the floor is not a big deal. Won't work
if you want to install a fancy radio, or win contests, but...no rust
for about 15 years makes me think that carpets and convertibles are
not supposed to be together! And yes, the tunnel is bare a** nekked,
but I like it that way. A soapy rag cleans my whole interior, floors,
tunnel, dash top, under seats, etc. Good luck...
