Hey gang,

Well...enough about cursors and such from me...<g>

On to my B story of the day:

As some may know, I recently sold my crumby 78 B
Roadster, and purchased a 72 B Roadster in MUCH
better shape. The car has run beautifully for
about 1,000 miles, with a few things, that I am
about to mention, that I knew were eventually
going to need some attention. Now, they do.
(big surprise)

Let me start with a brief history of the car:
The PO was an older gentleman (now deceased: I
bought the car indirectly from his widow) who
absolutely adored the car. I recieved an oil
spray each year, All fluids were tip top when
I scoped the car out, etc. There were even badges
on the grille and interior from various shows / rallys.
That brings my story to the point: Rallys. Although
the car was cared for well, it seems it was driven
rather hard i.e. racing.

The point is, as I was driving today, the brakes went
from gushy to almost nil. I thought I might have
a bit more time... (famous last words). It seems
the brake master cylander was a little bad...today,
the seal has apparently given way and I have almost no
braking at all. On the same trip (on my way home after
the brake problem), the engine died i.e. fuel loss.
Reason: bad fuel pump. I managed to tinker enough
to get the pump to run long enough to get some pressure
in the line, and made it home. To top all this off, the
clutch has gotten gooey...but I think all that is is an
indication that it needs to be bled (hopefully). Also,
I still have a bit of a heater leak.

So that's my sad story. It seems I have a bit of work
to do, but it's well worth it. I got the car at a VERY
good price (now I know why), and body-wise, the car
is fabulous. Body work is what I fear most, anyway.

Until the next,

Jay
