Master Cylinder Rebuilds

All this talk of brake and clutch problems seem to be a good time to
ask this question.

I need to rebuild both my clutch and brake MC's. Reading John Twist's
tech tips book he says that the clutch MC can be rebuilt with out
removing it from the car. My question is can I do the same for the
brake MC or do I need to remove it.

This question is probably moot since they will probably be so pitted
that they need replacement.
