        Someone's probably answered you by now, but the answer is yes:  do
tighten that.  I had the same thing happen on my '79.  You'll need a new
gasket, or, if it's hooked up with one of those metal doghnut thingys, you
can just clean it up with a wire brush.  Also, if you have the latter type
of seal, make sure you brush/sand out the pitting (which I'm sure there is)
on the contact areas of the downpipe and manifold.  Get yourself some new
bolts/studs, too.  It sounds like they won't be worth much by the time you
get them off!
