Some users of DOT5 report that moisture ins the system tends to collect at the 
low points, usually calipers and rear wheel cylinders. If not blead out 
regulary pitting corrosion in the bores occurs. DOT5 does, however, absorb air. 
  
DOT3 damages natural rubber seals.

DOT4 seems to be preferred over DOT3

DOT4 vs DOT5. This seems to be a personal prefference issue, ie what symtoms do 
you want to deal with.

None seem to be far superior to the others. Of course, YMMV
