A rather experienced mechanic told me that the real value of the wrap is that
it keeps the heat out of the engine bay and thus reduces intake air
temperature. Intake air temperature can cost as mush in performance as the
headers add. But he also said that he has seen headers melt away under the wrap.

Has anyone heard pros and/or cons rergarding this "Miracle" fabric that
insulates header pipes. I've seen it in 1 application and it hasn't been on
long enough to evaluate it yet, but.... The manufacturer claims it helps
develop horsepower by keeping the heat in the pipes thereby allowing better
scavenging. On the other hand Some parts guy told me that the wrap also
holds water and condensation next to the pipes when it cools off. Any
insight?
Tom
