Many thanks to all of the nice people who wrote to tell me that I was not
alone in worrying about chipping the new paint on my TF while I put it back
together. I also received many good suggestions as to how to minimize the
damage.
It turns out that the car now has a paint chip in it and I didn't even do
it! The painter dropped off some additional parts and was showing me the
fit of the tool box lid whewn he dropped it and put a chip in the top wall
of the toolbox. He said that he would repair it and any other chips that
might get in the paint after I was finished putting the car back together.
What a guy!
