point type distributor on 78 mgb

i took in another mgb as i found some space in one of my garages
acouple yrs. ago.[4 wasn't enuf].the po had put a pts. type distibutor in it
and deleted the electronic ignition. by changing out the coil for a bosch
blue one i got it started,however the coil gets hot. i know some b's had
resistors and some had resistive wiring . the resistor had been removed.
what do i need to do to get this beauty[cynical] road ready? thanks.
