Well, lemme se're. The World of Automotive Products arrived in my
mailbox today. (aka J.C.Whitney Catalog No. 599J) I immediately added it
to the library out on the throne next to the plunger/snake beater.
You're lucky as the family had only used up the 'specials' in front and
was through page 7 when, lo and behold, on page 8 describes:
"Auxiliary Space Heaters for Cars, Trucks, Vans, Station Wagons, 1953
MG-TDs"
They got item 'B' which is 33,000 BTUs, doesn't even need the ceegar
lighter, and measures 16 wide, 5 1/4 high, and 9 3/8 deep. The little
'Yugo' cage fan draws 8.5 amps. But it's described as for fitting under
the seat and, in a TD, this would mean it would be installed *outside*
the car. Part# 13NZ6149U for $184.99. Seems to me 33KBTU in a TD would
make the radiator redundant.
Perhaps you can slap the 'C' model up under the dash. It measures 8 1/2
wide, 12 1/2 deep, and 5 1/4 high. Has a fan in the middle and little
heater cores on each side. Rated at 13,000 BTU, has a 2-speed "heavy
duty" fan that draws 2.4 amps. 13NZ6151P for $184.99.
Them prices seems a little steep but, then again, ya'll T series folks
waste more than than that on half-shafts and sanitary napkins. Us common
folk might go for the 'D' model. It is a 7 inch cube, rated at 12,500
BTUs, and only draws 1.5 amps through the fan. 81NZ3000R goes for
$119.99.
