Everything works fine apart from the indicators. When they're
connected, the indicators flash very quickly, and not anywhere
 near as bright as normal.

So, what can I do, apart from disconnecting the normal indicators
when I'm carrying the bikes and lighting board ?

Anyone else had similar experiences ?

Andy,

There are heavy duty flashers available that will blink slower when carrying
the extra load. On my '73 MGB, the turn signal flasher is on the passenger
side, just above where their feet would be. The original mounts to the
firewall. Pull the plug and put in on the new flasher. The old one will still
be their when you want to go back to it.

It sounds like you may have some slightly corroded connectors in the boot
too. I would think the wiring harness would stand the extra bulb. Pull them
apart and shine them up with a little steel wool. Do this over a piece of
newspaper and be careful of where the excess steel wool goes.

Also, there are two styles of dual filament tail light bulbs, the 1034 and
1157. One of these using more current than the other. You might want to
replace all four with the style that pulls less power. I think you want the
1034 but, you'd better check me out.

Is the "lighting board" necessary because the bike blocks the license plate
and tail lights? An interesting solution.
