Why British?
Summer, 1967. Bought my first new car, '67 Mustang fastback, BRG,
HiPo V8, 4 speed, etc. Girlfriend bought an old Austin Healy 100/4. What
the heck is that? Fixed it up (took a lot of fixing). What a ton of fun!!!
Spring 1969. Girlfriend dumped me. Back to the Mustang. BORING!!
Bought a 1962 MGA 1600 MKII for $450 (kept Mustang). Fixed it up. Trip
around Atlantic Canada. FUN!!!
Labor day 1969. Stopped at red light. Suddenly wearing Ford
convertible. MG shortened by 3 feet. No injuries (seat belts!!!). Needed
sports car. Dumped Mustang. Bought 1969 Datsun 2000. Like LBC but
with incredible BA##S. FAST!!!
Autumn 1970. Engaged to be married. Dumped sports car for practical
Dodge wagon (STUPID!!!). Wife-to-be FURIOUS.
Fast Forward
Spring 1990. Saw forlorn little 77 MGB for sale, $2,000. 80,000 miles.
Body fair. Fell in love. Bought car. 65,000 miles later (and a ton of
money in improvements BUT very little in repairs) still lovin it. Won't ever
recoup money invested(?) Don't care. Having too much fun.
