2 cents time.
In answer to the younger members of the group. The old f***s
are just jealous and insecure! Keep on asking questions and your
mentors, teachers and friends will come along.

Also I must point out that the problems are not only age
related. This past weekend I was at the Buttonwillow racetrack here in
sunny Cafilonia. My 65B looks like hell because it was totalled during
a daily commute. I am still driving it and do not have time to wash,
wax and floss the beast. I had no end of disparaging comments about
what a wreck it looked. Strange that I seemed to be having the most fun
flogging it around the race track during the lunch break, whilst the car
show folks were flicking little bits of dust away and looking tense.
I did get one wonderful comment saying that it was great to see
a car that was obviously used and enjoyed. That was from a young man in
his 20's who was proudly driving his B roadster which was in nice
(original, but getting better) shape.
On the whole, the car show people were pretty friendly. I
didn't get bitten once. I did bump into a man who has a 64B bodyshell
in his front yard that I can have to rebuild my 65. It will not be a
show quality restoration. But it will be a nice driver.
Lloyd Faust was on the track with his beautyful Sebring replica
MGB. The car is a wealth of technical trivia as he got to play with a
number of the original cars. I got some ideas on how to make my Sebring
replica a little more accurate. On the way home I am sad to say the top
was up on my B, I was nursing a severe case of sunburn.
