just rebuilt and re-installed the hif4 su's. i suspect that the mixture
may be a bit rich, but am not terribly sure. i have started the car the
past two mornings with no choke. typically a good sign of a rich mix.
the temperature here in sc has been quite high, even in the evenings--
would this high temp allow the car to be started with no choke in the
morning?

the car is not blowing black smoke, and is running quite well (knock
on wood & say a short prayer to mowog/lucas). the annoying smell of
gas is no worse than it was before the rebuild, but i suspect quite
a few holes in the top of the gas tank, so i wouldn't be able to tell
anyway.

i also have a valve tick that seems rather loud, but have been told
that this is an inherent trait of the 18v engine. i adjusted the
valves, but to no avail. i replaced a section of exhaust pipe that
had a hole in it, therefore am running much quieter and can hear a
bit more of what's going on in the engine compartment. the tick has
probably been there all along----i can just hear it now!

thanks,
