I put Valvoline 20W50 in my '74 B over the weekend to replace the Castrol.
Cold, the pressure is a little lower (75 psi, compared to 80 psi with the
Castrol) Warm, the pressure was the same - idle 45psi, running 70 psi. The
Valvoline was a bit more $$. $22/case at CarQuest. I'll look for a
cheaper supplier (Advance Auto didn't stock the 20w-50).

I also put on a MotorCraft oil filter to replace the Purolator that I had
been running. I had given up on the Fram filters after hearing about the
tread earlier this year on the check valve in the Fram. The Purolator
seemed to give the same pause as the Fram in bring up the oil pressure at
startup (about 6 or 7 seconds before the pressure would rise on the gauge).
What a difference the MotorCraft made! Oil pressure now comes up
immediately upon hitting the starter. Thanks for the list of oil filter
numbers, Barney.

I also put the Radio Shack 7.5v bulb in the dash lights, big difference.
I now get to use the rheostat to dim the dash lights. We appreciate the
info, Bob.
