Greasings and lubrications, all...

In response to two posts about door cracks and pictures of
1970 MGBs...

A friend of mine at work will scan several "work in progress" photos
from my scrapbook, from the day I brought the wreckage home to the
finished car in front of local scenic landmarks. This should be done
by mid January or so. Hmmm? I wonder how to get them out on the
web, as I have no home page? Assistance?

As for door cracks...this is what I did:

Strip all the guts out of the door. Drill 3 or 4 3/8 inch holes
on each side of the crack. Spot weld a small plate (from an old
scrap of fender or such) behind the crack. Beat the edges of the
crack down flat. Weld the crack. Grind the welds flat and touch up
with your favorite filler.

Because of the design of the door, all MGB doors will crack, if
not so reinforced. If you have a car stripped down, go ahead and
make reinforcing plates. And any repair not reinforcing the door
will fail. Do it right and save money and grief.

Later...
