There may be some difference in the original heights but if so it
would be negligible - what you are experiencing is the difference
between a worn-out seat and a refurbished one!!
Having refurbished a few myself i estimate the difference to be 3-4
inches
once you put in new foams (which get crushed over the years) and new
diaphragms (which stretch, perish and break!)
As an example, my 69 needs new foams and my right elbow rests
comfortably on the trans tunnel - in my 72, refurbished 2 years ago,
my elbow rests on the armrest at about the same position
If you are going with leather the best ones are by Mike Satur, personally
i have always got foams from Moss and use the full diaphragms rather
than the strap type - they give a firmer finish.

I tend to agree - the 70-77 seats are definitely the most comfortable

Never tried this but if you are refurbishing the seats anyway, better to
wait
until you "dry-fit" them once theyre done - you dont want to be looking
over
the top of the windscreen~~~~!

70 BGT (new everything and head nearly touching the roof)
72 roadster(as above but no roof....)
