Micheal,

Hartley's suggestion for lighter fluid is a good one. Mineral spirts will also
work. Squirt it on around the edges and wait a few minutes, repeat if
necessary.

If you need to add some mechanical energy, don't use the razor blade (as you
said). There is something perfect for what your doing, though. It is a PLASTIC
razor blade as made by Mar-hyde. It looks just like a razor blade, but has an
edge more like that of a credit card. It's made for removing paint overspray,
decals, etc. from things as delicate as paint. Also for plastic coated windows
as found on some GM cars.

A good auto parts or paint store should have them. If not, call Auto Wax
Company in Dallas at 214-631-4000 and ask for the number of a distributor in
your area. They manufacture car preparation and reconditioning products for
the professionals; dealers, detail shops, auto auctions, etc.

By the way, just how bad is the surface of the rubber bumpers? After washing
with DETERGENT and a STIFF BRUSH, is it just dull or is the surface all
cracked and powdery?
