Thanks, Rick, That's very interesting.  In the same configuration, the Ford
302 I'm replacing the tractor engine with in my T****ph only weighs 37 lb.
more.  The bare block weighs 127 lb., and probably accounts for most of the
additional weight (the Ford heads, intake, and water pump are aluminum, same
as the Buick).  The crank, cam, pistons, con rods, etc., probably weigh very
nearly the same on both engines.

Betcha can't guess what engine I'm planning to use in my MGBGT V8 conversion,
now that I've learned this!
