Other than to make sure the car's straight and its sills solid, the best
advice I can give you is to read everything you can before you buy.
A brief list:
1) Classic Motorbooks MG Buyer's Guide for an overview of MGs. (all
models)
2) Clausager's Original MGB for details on originality.
3) Porter's guide to Guide to Purchase, Maintenance and Restoration(?)
for appraisal and repair info.
4) Porter's Guide to Step-by-Step Maintenance for everyday stuff.
5) MG Owner's survival guide to help you avoid and get out of trouble.
The best advice ever given to me (probably by someone on this list) while
I was shopping was:
Buy the best car you can afford. It will be cheaper in the long run.
I walked away from a lot a cars before I bought mine. Needless to say,
I'm glad I did.
