Styrofoam is a registered trade mark of the Dow Chemical Co. It should
always be capitalized. It is an extruded polystyrene foam, and is blue
in color. The white crumbly stuff is not Styrofoam but is made from
expanded polystyrene beads and is familiar as molded drink cups, picnic
coolers, or as large insulation sheets used in the construction
industry. The pink material used in construction is extruded polystrene
made by Owens Corning.
