So, you're gonna make me publicly 'fess up to being ignorant, are you?!

I have no idea how thick an unmachined exhaust seat should be, I'm afraid. I
entrust this work to a machine shop that has years of experience with
British heads. They obtain the seats and install them for me in all the
heads we take off for valve jobs.

If you can wait till Monday evening, I'll call them during the day Monday
and see if I can get the information you need.
