Rob, 
Assuming that you've already replaced any non-working bulbs with new
ones, what you need to do here is clean, clean, clean.  Start with the
fuse box - clean all the connections.  You may find that fixes half of
your electrical problems (fixed all mine, but I think I was just lucky).
Then, clean the connections at the faulty component.  If that still
doesn't work, follow the wiring from the component to the switch and
(you guessed it) clean up those connections.  I bet just about
everything is working by this time.  If not, check all the wiring from
the component, switch, and back to the fuse box.  If you've got power
and good grounds, it would be safe to assume the component is faulty.
But don't be too quick to buy new - a lot of stuff (like your old fuel
pump) is fixable/rebuildable, and is not really complicated.  Just keep
asking the list.  There's always somebody who's been there, done that.
