I have to agree with Clayton here.  I can understand tipping waitresses,
for example, since they are paid below minimum wage and are expected to
earn tips (keyword here is "earn").  Also a tip to someone who has done
a little extra, beyond the scope of what would normally be required, is
not out of hand.  

I do not, however, understand why you are expected to tip virtually
everyone who performs a service for you.  These people are already paid
a salary - why do I have to pay them again?  

Nobody tips me for doing my job, and I frequently perform above and
beyond the call of duty.  If I accepted cash for this, however, I would
be brought up on disciplinary charges.
